xubuntu and the keyring annoyance

Current version at time of writing: kamic 64

first need to install the libpam-keyring and add a line to the end of the PAM config file

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install libpam-keyring
sudo echo "@include common-pamkeyring" >> /etc/pam.d/gdm

Now supposedly if the keyring and login passwords are the same this will be all you need to do to all the network manager to access your wifi password ... when you reboot.

But in my case this did nothing. So I tried deleting the keyring file. Which then prompts you to reenter the wifi and a new keyring password. so I did this to set the same as the login one.

Code: Select all
sudo rm /home/<yourusernamehere>/.gnome2/keyrings/login.keyring

But still no joy!

So this time I delete the new keyring file and reboot and enter a blank password for the keyring and it works, unsecure but works. Note the keyring is named default now ...

Code: Select all
sudo rm /home/<yourusernamehere>/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring

And this does the trick time, to log an issue with the ubuntu/xubuntu guys.
